The Devil and Daisy Dirt

A bluegrass tall tale about the Jersey Devil with live music and an 8' wearable puppet. On the night of an annual appetite contest called "I 8 the Devil," Daisy Dirt finds something strange - winged and antlered, wounded but alive - in the dumpster behind Lucille's Luncheonette (aka the Devil's Diner). With the help of a Piney palm reader named Effie and a piece of magic muscle meat from the basement game locker, Daisy evades a villainous poacher named Tasty (Murder) and risks everything to save it. Think Pine Barrens “Our Town” meets cryptid E.T., with a shoulder-shot Jersey Devil instead of a stranded extraterrestrial, deer hunters instead of federal agents, and a portal that opens above the Apple Pie Hill fire tower after a midnight lightening strike instead of an alien mothership shaped like a Christmas tree ornament. All backed by a high lonesome sound.

On Cats and Dogs and Other Family Revelations

On Cats and Dogs and Other Family Revelations wraps big ideas in focused stories about Ella’s pets, offering glimpses of her human family and life in her place of birth, Transylvania, Romania. With her dark humor and heart, Ella takes audiences from her childhood under communist rule, to her present quirky experiences in East Harlem, using her dog and cat as reference points. The cast will feature Ella Veres and her companion dog, Pandele, who said she's in it not for fame, but to pay her vet bills. Rosamunda, her cat, was asked to perform but declined. She’d rather lounge under the sofa than be in the limelight. “Being from Transylvania, is expected of me to be creepy, so I oblige, from time to time, albeit not in Hollywood style,” said Ella Veres, lead performer and director of On Cats and Dogs and Other Family Revelations. “The war in Ukraine riled my memories up, and urged me to point out how much there is to lose.” The performance will run approximately one hour. Each show is a different iteration. Ella Veres is an independent performer and writer who has been active in the New York City cultural community since 2001. Her work has been presented at the Immigrant Theater Festival, Galapagos Art Space, Manhattan Theater Source, IWAS,The Field, Theater for the New City, The Moth, Stage Left, Bowery Poetry Club, Chashama, and her present incubator, Fountain House Gallery. For several years she focused on her visual art, but in 2022, serendipity made her act in Stories From My Mother at the Theater for the New City, and thus reminded her how lovely it is to be in front of a live audience. Her current solo storytelling show, On Cats and Dogs and Other Family Revelations, was shaped during her 2023 Fountain House Gallery summer residency on Governors Island and in Adam Wade’s Magnet Theater Solo Workshop, and premiered successfully at the 2024 NYC Fringe Festival.

Brokeneck Girls: The Murder Ballad Musical

Brokeneck Girls: The Murder Ballad Musical The dark comedy that won Best Musical in the NYC Fringe Festival returns in its third edition, with new scenes and fresh plot twists! Eventually the truth comes out- the desire to survive has driven all of them to become what they fear most. The score, performed by the NYC-based, folk noir band Brokeneck Girls, features songs of murder, mayhem and dirty deeds spiced with juicy gossip and facts about real people and events in the songs. Goat Blood

In the heart of a dense forest, nestled in the bed of a pickup truck, two coworkers, Pablo and Owen, find themselves waiting for their dates. What starts as a casual debate about tacos, friendships, sexuality, and heritage gradually transforms into something deeper—an undeniable attraction simmering beneath their banter. However, their unexpected connection is soon overshadowed by the arrival of a menacing Chupacabra, threatening to shatter the tranquility of their evening. Owen's terror at the creature's appearance pales in comparison to his shock when he learns that the Chupacabra has been a constant presence in Pablo's life. "Goat Blood" weaves together the threads of passion, queer identity, and the triumphant conquest of personal demons. Poe's Children

Poe's Children is a bold new meditation on the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe. At times explosive, at times harrowingly contemplative, this multidisciplinary dive into one of American literature’s most noted voices ignites the imagination and titillates the senses. The show begins at a funeral. Edgar Allen Poe is dead, leaving behind his imaginary children. At this memorial, each Child has a moment to grieve on their own terms, reflecting on their life’s journey using a poem of their father’s as a catalyst to memory. Utilizing both the text and their own words, the performers interpret and reflect on the work both sonically and physically. Relationships to each other, their father, and themselves are reexamined through song, dance, and more as they forge ever onward toward an elusive catharsis.

Based on the tradition of violence against women in folk music and the crimes that inspired the songs, the social commentary delivers fast-paced laughter while addressing issues of class, race, gender, and power. Revenge, redemption, free will and the conflict between good and evil unfold unexpectedly in a story focused on three women who bond over music and share increasingly outrageous secrets.

Thus begins a media firestorm and a messy affair between Jay and the non-binary adult child of Dea's Hollywood agent. The wild tale unfurls from Jay's point of view.  This 45 minute solo adaptation of Euripides' Medea is the creation of filmmaker/actor Mark Blane (Writer/Director/Star of the 2019 feature film CUBBY and Writer/Producer of the Netflix Original THE DEATH AND LIFE OF MARSHA P.
